Q&A with Maxim:

What is your favorite part about being on the Dev team?

We constantly share tools and tips to help each other work smarter. It's a team that genuinely invests in making everyone more efficient.

Could you tell us what led you to pursue a career in software engineering?

Writing a program on my TI-84 to solve quadratic equations was a slippery slope that led me to wonder what else I could solve with a little bit of code.

What has been your favorite project/most interesting thing you've worked on at WelcomeHome?

After working on over 15 EMR integrations, I've gained a real appreciation for well-defined, up-to-date API documentation. I'm even more grateful for the ones that come with fully functional sandbox environments; they make all the difference when iterating and testing the quirks between our systems.

Favorite team memory?

The "Be a Developer" event. We had non-technical team members try to build and code a feature while devs watched and guided them through. There was plenty of confusion, lots of laughs, and in the end, they actually got it working. The PR got merged with a long list of Co-Authored-By tags to prove it!

Why WelcomeHome?

It's a place where we take the time to build things well, not just ship and move on. There's a strong focus on both the user and developer experience, with an emphasis on thoughtful engineering to minimize technical debt so we can scale sustainably.
